Speedy Eats is a Louisiana-based developer of mobile automated kitchens for parking lots. Speedy Eats kitchen units utilize a “cook ‘n hold” method, which can cook a meal on command, package, and store it in a warmer. The kitchen units are designed to be able to function independently as stand-alone restaurants, enabling the operators to deploy units at unserved high-traffic locations as parking lots. The units are open 24/7 and can be operated by a single part-time employee. The technology can prepare a range of food items such as pizza, bbq entrees, wings, and fried chicken. The system can manage multiple inputs such as multiple takeout orders, enabling customers to place orders via smartphones or via third-party food delivery services. As of September 2022, the company’s technology was in the first-generation lab prototype stage with patents pending.
The company sells the automated restaurant units to operators for ~USD 120,000 each, while also licensing the software as a monthly SaaS subscription. The company believes that each unit would provide a one-year rate of return for an automated kitchen.
Key customers and partnerships
In June 2022, the company partnered with the pizza-making robot developer Picnic Works , to make Picnic Works its exclusive pizza assembly system supplier. The two companies planned to deploy units starting 2023.
Funding and financials
As of September 2022, Speedy Eats had surpassed 208 early shareholders and had raised over USD 335,533 on the equity crowdfunding platform StartEngine.
