Rewind (formerly C Sink Ltd) is an Israel-based biomass carbon removal and storage company that stores organic carbon in anoxic water. The company collects agricultural waste and transports it to the bottom of the black sea. Since the decomposition of plants is extremely slow due to the anoxic conditions at the sites, the carbon is sequestered for a longer period (~1,000 years). In addition, Rewind develops remote sensing technology for tracking carbon sequestration and a logistics system to support its suppliers.
Rewind also provides a complete measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) system based on bio-geochemical science. It provides end-to-end monitoring data from the sourcing field to the sea bottom. This system supports farmers, forest managers, and shipping companies to transform residual biomass into sequestered organic carbon and generate carbon removal credits.
