Rewind, an Israel-based biomass carbon removal and storage (BiCRS) company, has secured USD 5 million in a seed funding round. The investment round included participation from existing investors such as Yes VC, Propeller, and Third Derivative, among others. The new funding will be utilized to expand the company's pilot project by 400x compared to previous experiments conducted by Rewind.
In addition to its funding, Rewind unveiled its first customer, Supercritical, a British carbon offset marketplace, to enhance the company’s CO2 removal process.
Founded in 2022, Rewind is a carbon removal company that leverages the Black Sea's anoxic seabed as a carbon dioxide repository for natural CO2 storage. It transports agriculture and forestry residue to the bottom of the Black Sea for permanent carbon sequestration.
