Esencia Foods is a German biotech company specializing in mycelium-based meat alternatives. The company claims to be the first European developer of whole-cut fish and seafood alternatives and uses edible fungus strains (mycelium) and a patented solid-state fermentation process to develop its products.
In October 2023 , the company showcased its mycelium-based whitefish alternatives at the Anuga gastronomic fair in Cologne, Germany. According to the company, its products are vegan and high in fiber, protein, and Omega-3 while being free from GMOs and antibiotics.

In October 2022, the company received USD 500,000 as a pre-seed investment from Big Idea Ventures as a part of its New Protein Accelerator program.
