Spiritus Technologies develops direct air capture (DAC) technology to deliver scalable and modular systems for low-cost DAC and sequestration (DAC+S). The company uses a novel solid sorbent material with its Spiritus Carbon Orchard, an infrastructure model mimicking a human lung.
Spiritus deploys a non-TVSA (temperature vacuum swing absorption) process at low temperatures to remove CO2 from the air. The Spiritus Carbon Orchard has passive air contacting to bind CO2 to the sorbent to optimize energy consumption. Its solutions are powered by renewable energy sources and developed using existing supply chains.
Key customers and partnerships
In September 2023, Spiritus was contracted by Frontier to provide 713 tons of carbon removal. In May 2024, the company signed an MoU with Aramco, a global energy company, to pilot DAC technology in Saudi Arabia.
