Gravity Sketch is a UK-based collaborative 3D design platform. It was one of the earliest design platforms to use VR and it uses gestural interaction as the primary input method to collaboratively sketch 3D designs and communicate ideas in real time. The platform supports cross-disciplinary collaboration, allowing teams to work together in a shared digital space, regardless of their physical location. Gravity Sketch integrates with existing CAD and rendering software, supporting various file formats like .obj, .iges, and .fbx. The platform is accessible via VR headsets and iPad apps, ensuring flexibility and ease of use across different devices
Key customers and partnerships
The company’s VR-based 3D design tools are used in a wide range of industries such as transportation, industrial design, education, footwear, eyewear, and concept art by brands such as Adidas, Ford, and HP. As of April 2022, 70% of Gravity Sketch’s customers are US based.
Funding and financials
In its most recent funding round (April 2022), the company raised USD 33 million in Series A funding led by Accel. The round followed a 4x revenue growth in the previous 12 months. The fresh funds were earmarked for platform development, which includes the expansion of LandingPad, a collaborative feature for “non-designer” users to view and provide feedback on the design process. A part of the funding will also be used to expand its sales, customer success, and onboarding teams.
