Based in Israel, Nano Dimension provides additive manufacturing (AM) solutions for electronics, micro-additive printing, and other related services including parts manufacturing, rapid prototyping, printed circuit board (PCB) prototyping, and surface mounting technology (SMT) assembly. The company’s range of products includes 1) Dragon IV, an additively manufactured electronics (AME) printer and AME materials for printing electronic components such as multilayer PCB, antennas, and sensors; 2) micro 3D printers and related polymer formulas for micro-printing; and 3) SMT for pick-and-place solutions.
The company acquired industrial inkjet print-head provider GIS in January 2022 to expand its operations in specialized 3D printing and AM. Nano Dimension currently holds ~14% of the shares in Stratasys. In March 2023, it attempted to acquire the remaining shares of Stratasys at USD 18 per share but was rejected . In December 2023, Nano Dimension submitted a preliminary all-cash proposal to acquire the remaining stakes of Stratasys.
In July 2024, Nano Dimension entered a definitive agreement to acquire all outstanding shares of Desktop Metal for ~USD 183 million in an all-cash transaction. The acquisition enabled Nano Dimension to expand its portfolio (including metal, electronics, casting, polymer, micro-polymer, and ceramics) for mass production of industrial applications, further expanding its market share and diversifying its customer base.
Key customers and partnerships
In January 2022, the company partnered with XTPL, a 3D printer and materials provider for AM, to develop a nanoparticle-based conductive ink for AM applications in electronics.
The company mainly serves consumer electronics, medical devices, industrial manufacturing, aerospace and defense, automotive, and telecommunications industries, including customers in the US government defense industry and NASA Marshall Space Flight Center.
In September 2024, Nano Dimension announced that it will continue to invest in its joint venture with HENSOLDT, a German defence electronics company. Dubbed J.A.M.E.S (Jetted Additively Manufactured Electronics Sources), the joint venture focuses on advancing the development of 3D-printed electronics. It is an electronic designer community that exchanges design, methodologies, and materials knowledge in additive manufacturing electronics (AME).
