Cuemath

Founded by math teacher Manan Khurma, Cuemath is a math and coding learning platform for K-10 students. Cuemath’s proprietary methodology includes a technology platform with gamified pedagogy. The company claims that its methodology allows students to double their math problem-solving speed within 12 months. The platform uses a one-to-many teaching model with a maximum of six students in a class.

As of September 2021, the platform was used by more than 300,000 students and logged more than 25 million teaching hours. More than 96% of Cuemath teachers are women. Students are spread across more than 70 countries, including the UK, the US, the UAE, Singapore, Canada, Thailand, Indonesia, Egypt, Nigeria, India, Nepal, and Bangladesh, among others. The company is aiming to be available across 100+ countries by FY2023.

In April 2021, the company announced that it was officially expanding into the US with plans to more than double the 15,000 K-10 students that it supports in the country.

Key customers and partnerships

In June 2021, Cuemath announced a partnership with Google for Education for teachers to receive a Google Certified Educator Level 1 Certificate and students who take a 12 - 18 month Cuemath program to be awarded the Google CS First Creator Coder Certificate.

Funding and financials

In May 2022, the company raised USD 57 million (~INR 4.38 billion) in a funding round led by Alpha Wave, doubling Cuemath’s valuation to USD 407 million. It planned to use the funds to strengthen its product capabilities, growth initiatives, partnerships, and acquisitions. 

For FY2022, the company reported a revenue growth of 63.3% YoY to INR 1.5 billion (~USD 18.7 million). However, the company's total expenditure increased by 64.7% YoY to INR 3.7 billion (~USD 45.1 million) in FY2022, with advertising and promotion expenses growing by 18.4% YoY and legal professional charges rising by 126.3% YoY. Consequently, the firm's loss widened by 65.7% YoY to INR 2.2 billion (~USD 26.9 million).
