Luma Health offers a Patient Success Platform that streamlines and unifies various aspects of the patient journey in healthcare. Founded in 2015, the company's technology integrates with electronic health records (EHRs) to provide solutions for patient scheduling, engagement, and communication. Luma Health's platform enables healthcare providers to automate appointment reminders, manage referrals, facilitate patient intake, and support two-way messaging between patients and providers. The company's solutions aim to reduce the administrative burden on healthcare staff while improving patient access and engagement.

Luma Health's platform includes features such as smart scheduling, which allows patients to self-schedule appointments 24/7, confirm or reschedule via text message, and join waitlists. The company also offers digital call deflection, which redirects phone calls to self-service SMS options, reducing hold times and inbound call volume for healthcare providers. 

In June 2022, Luma Health launched LumaPay, a service that enables patients to pay bills via text messages or provider websites, as part of its LumaFinancial product suite.

The company's technology utilizes AI and natural language processing to provide automated conversational responses to patient texts, which helps reduce manual work for healthcare staff. Luma Health's platform is designed to integrate with various EHR systems, including Epic, Cerner, and Meditech, to maintain a single source of truth for healthcare providers.

In October 2024, Luma launched Spark AI, a multi-model GenAI system integrated into its Patient Success Platform. Spark AI was launched with the aim to address operational challenges in healthcare systems, such as high call volumes and manual fax processing. 

Key customers and partnerships

As of July 2024, Luma Health served more than 650 health systems, integrated delivery networks, federally qualified health centers, specialty networks, and clinics globally. The company orchestrates the care journeys of more than 50 million patients.

In February 2024, Greenway Health partnered with Luma Health to create Greenway Patient Connect, a patient engagement portfolio integrated into Greenway's EHR solutions. Additionally, in August 2023, NextGen Healthcare announced a strategic alliance with Luma Health to offer AI-enhanced solutions for patient engagement, including NextGen Patient Engage and NextGen Self-Scheduling powered by Luma.

In May 2023, the company announced an integration with MEDITECH as part of the MEDITECH Alliance program, bringing new capabilities to healthcare providers using the MEDITECH Expanse EHR. 

In October 2022, Luma Health partnered with Memora Health to create a streamlined patient experience across multiple entry points of health systems. 

In June 2022, Change Healthcare launched a Patient Engagement suite in collaboration with Luma Health, combining Change Healthcare's revenue cycle management capabilities with Luma Health's patient engagement solutions.
