California-based Luma Health automates healthcare workflows including text-based scheduling, appointment reminders, patient intake, clinical communication, and telehealth. The platform integrates with more than 80 electronic health records (EHRs), serving nearly 550 health systems, hospitals, federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), and clinics across the US, as of November 2021. In June 2022, the company launched a new payment option called LumaPay, the inaugural module of its financial product LumaFinancial, found within its platform. Through this service, patients are able to settle their co-pay expenses with registered healthcare providers via text messages or through the provider’s website. The company stated it planned to add more modules to LumaFinancial in the future to include functions such as connected payments, estimates, coverages, and others.
