AristaMD

AristaMD provides a software platform called eConsults, which helps healthcare providers carry out specialist consultations and provide instant referrals to improve patient care transitions. The company claims that its white label platform helps healthcare providers develop specialist-backed treatment plans within 24 hours, instead of having patients wait weeks to consult with specialists. The platform includes features such as the ability to select specialists based on insurance coverage, the ability to integrate into existing workflows, and EHR integration and interoperability. The company also claims that its HIPAA-compliant platform can reduce routine referrals by 70%.

AristaMD serves payors, health systems, ACOs, and primary care clinics, enhancing patient experiences and outcomes.

In November 2023, the company merged with Sitka, an asynchronous peer-to-peer virtual consultation provider, to form a single healthcare video consultation provider. The merger was carried out to help AristaMD offer more ways for primary care providers to expand their scope of services. The merged entity also combined Sitka's group of virtual specialty providers with AristaMD’s referral nurse navigation and access to referral management services to simplify access to healthcare services for Medicare, Medicaid, and other health plan members across the US. Post-merger, Kelsey Mellard, founder and CEO of Sitka, became the new president of AristaMD, while Dr. Julia Jezmir, previously the chief medical officer for Sitka, was brought on as chief medical officer for AristaMD.

In May 2024 AristaMD announced that Keith Pinter, a healthcare veteran, was appointed CEO. Brooke LeVasseur, the former CEO, transitioned into the role of strategic advisor for the company. The company noted that Keith Pinter would focus particularly on accelerating clinical efficacy for patients with high-cost, high-impact conditions.

Key customers and partnerships

AristaMD partnered with the University of Colorado School of Medicine in September 2020 to expand eConsults to a network of community providers. Through the partnership, AristaMD enabled healthcare providers using its platform to consult with specialists from the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

More recently, in April 2021, AristaMD partnered with OCHIN, a national nonprofit health IT organization, to expand ‘eConsult’ services for nearly six million underserved patients across the US. Through the partnership, primary care providers in the OCHIN network gained access to additional resources for more rapid and integrated virtual health care delivery through AristaMD’s platform. Additionally, OCHIN launched its eConsults to AristaMD's network, directly giving providers more options for collaboration with specialists.

Funding and financials

In November 2023, on the date of its merger with Sitka, the company announced that it had raised USD 16.5 million in a Series C funding round. The financial backers were not disclosed, but the company noted that it would use the funding to help expand cost-effective and timely specialty care.
