Kry is a Swedish telemedicine provider that allows patients to video consult qualified health professionals 24/7 through smartphones or tablets. It addresses conditions such as infections, skin diseases, digestive issues, and psychological concerns. In April 2020, Kry rolled out Livi Connect, a free video consultation platform with fewer features than its main app, to face the increased demand for telemedicine in the US due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Patients can download the Kry app, log in, describe their problems, upload photos if necessary, book a 15-minute video consultation with a physician or a 25-minute face-to-face appointment with a psychiatrist, get prescriptions, lab tests, or referrals to specialists.
As of July 2023, the company has 28 healthcare clinics in Sweden, four clinics in Norway, and two clinics in France. Additionally, the company claims that it has carried out a cumulative of 7 million patient appointments, fulfilled by its 1,300 clinicians who can provide care in over 30 languages. Kry has operations in Sweden, France, the UK, Norway, and Germany.
Key customers and partnerships
In July 2023 the company stated that it was partnering with Microsoft and OpenAI to develop and incorporate an AI component to its healthcare offering. While the solution is still in development and testing stages, the company indicated that its use cases would primarily be for assisting clinicians with diagnostics as well as administrative tasks. The company will use this AI module as disclosed in a Sacra interview carried out in July 2023.
Funding and financials
In July 2022, it raised more than USD 160 million in a venture funding round with participation from five existing venture investors as well as one new venture investor. This brought the total funds raised by the company to around USD 730 million. The raised funds were set aside to expand access to its primary care services through partnerships with public healthcare institutions. In addition, it planned to invest in its specialist services relating to mental health, chronic diseases, and women’s health.
