China-based KAT VR specializes in the creation of VR omni-directional treadmills (ODTs) for gaming, alongside the production of VR safety-related training content (military, construction, and firefighting) for enterprises.

The flagship product of KATVR is the Omni-Directional Treadmill (ODT) branded as KAT Walk, which is claimed to be the world’s first non-restrictive ODT and one of the two major ODTs in the world. As of August 2023, the company held more than 20 global and local patents related to VR, interactive technology, ergonomic design, and motion capture technology.

KAT Walk (KATVR's ODT) is a VR treadmill that enables 360 degrees of continuous movement within a limited physical space for its users. Users can control the in-game character with their body movements, which would level up the VR immersion, reduce VR motion sickness, and burn calories in VR games. It is compatible with 250+ Steam VR games with support for free locomotion. KATVR offers two versions of of KAT WALK:

1) KAT WALK C2 CORE, priced at USD 899, offers core features such as VR 2D foot tracking.

2) KAT WALK C2 +, priced at USD 1,399, has all the features of C2 CORE plus enhanced seats and integrated haptics.

Apart from core products, KAT VR offers the following:

1) KAT Vehicle hub - KAT WALK converted to an all-in-one VR gaming station which enables both active and seated VR gaming;

2) KAT Loco S - walk-on-spot VR locomotion system; and

3) accessories such as KAT Nexus, KAT Walk C2 shoes (used for smooth walking on the base plate of the KAT Walk) and KAT Walk C 2 Playstation VR 1 Adaptor.

Key customers and partnerships

In 2019, KAT VR entered a partnership with Hitech as the official distributor of its products in Poland. Other distribution partnerships include those with local companies in Thailand, Kuwait, and Japan. The company also partnered with Synthesis VR, a location-based VR content store and technology company, to improve its location-based VR ecosystem by delivering hardware and software solutions.
