Movement Labs is building a network of Move-based (programming language) blockchains. Its flagship products are M1, a layer-1 blockchain, and M2, a layer-2 scaling protocol compatible with Sui. Both were in the development and networking phase as of May 2024.
M1 is a blockchain running on the Avalanche subnet, and benefits from Avalanche’s consensus mechanism. In addition, Movement Labs' Fractal module enables Solidity projects to be launched on M2 without writing Move code as it converts Solidity scripts into opcodes understood by next-generation virtual machines like Move.
Key customers and partnerships
In March 2024, the company partnered with Aptos Labs to enhance blockchain interoperability by integrating Movement SDK with Aptos’ data availability capabilities. This collaboration aims to establish an advanced routing infrastructure to improve interactions between the two protocols.
In July 2024, Movement Labs partnered with Polygon to integrate its MoveVM-based layer-2 chains into Polygon's AggLayer, interoperability protocol. Through the collaboration, the companies aimed to enhance and enable unified liquidity and user bases across Move and EVM ecosystems.
