QL AG is a Swiss FoodTech company founded by René Pellaux and Andreas Meyer—two highly renowned biotechnologists with expertise in high-throughput research methods, proteins, and vitamin B12 production.
The company employs a high-throughput screening process, the Nano-Encapsulator, and Complex Organism and Particle Analyzer and Sorter (COPAS) to simultaneously evaluate millions of microorganisms and achieve high-yield results. QL AG claims its process is one million times faster than other methods and allows for high-yield results that enable large-scale food and supplement manufacturing. It uses goat milk protein rather than the widely used cow milk protein in its fermentation process to cultivate dairy proteins.
Key customers and partnerships
In October 2023, QL AG partnered with Ginkgo Bioworks, a biotechnology firm, to develop animal-free dairy proteins using precision fermentation.
