Hybridworks is a textile recycling startup that recycles blended fabrics to separate cotton and polyester components for reuse. Hybridworks recovers 100% of cotton fiber from the blended fabric waste and breaks down polyester fiber into its original terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol components. The high-integrity cotton produced from textile waste can be spun into new fiber, while the recovered chemicals can be turned into new fiber or mixed with virgin fiber to produce fiber with recycled content.
The company develops its Hybridworks Sustainable Textile & Environmental Process (hSTEP) supported by custom machinery and systems. The fully automated process optimizes labor, energy, and water usage. As of September 2023, Hybridworks was developing a pilot plant.
Funding and financials
The company's latest funding round was in September 2023 , when it raised USD 3.2 million in a seed funding round led by a private investor. The funding was reserved for R&D and production infrastructure. Previously, in 2022, Hybridworks raised USD 300,000 in a pre-seed round from the founding team and angel investors.
