AgriTech North

AgriTech North is a Canadian hydroponic vertical farming company that produces leafy greens, herbs, and small fruiting crops year-round.

As of November 2022, the company operated a 4,400 sq ft indoor farm in Dryden with approximately 2,000 sq ft of growing space and 900 towers, capable of producing over 450 kg of produce weekly. As of November 2023, the company's long-term goal was to build a 100,000-sq-ft facility, including 60,000 sq ft of greenhouse space and 40,000 sq ft of vertical farming space.

The company claims to use 90% less water, 60% less nutrients, and reduce fresh produce costs by 25% compared to organic and conventional farming methods. As of November 2023, the company was poised to become the first to adopt a solar tri-generation system for agricultural use to generate electricity, heat, and cooling simultaneously. It claims to provide 3x as much energy from the same solar footprint by harnessing thermal energy from the sun.

Funding and financials

In November 2023, AgriTech North was announced as a recipient of CAD 100,000 (~USD 73,000) in funding from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario (FedNor). The company intended to use the funds to purchase and install the tri-generation solar system.
