Chill-Pak

Chill-Pak is a manufacturer and total solutions provider of sustainable, temperature-assurance packaging for various industries including pharmaceuticals, biologics, and chemicals. The company's flagship product is the chill-n-go line of specially formulated non-toxic, reusable chill-packs. These chill-packs are designed to be safe, economical, and highly efficient, containing no chemicals and based on natural starch. This makes them safer around children and pets, and less concerning in case of accidental puncture. The starch-based formula requires storage in a freezer when not in use to maintain longevity, as it can begin to degrade within a few months at room temperature. However, with proper freezer storage, these packs can last for decades even under frequent use.

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, Chill-Pak developed a packaging solution for vaccine shipments that could maintain temperatures from -89°C to -70°C and extend the shipping cycle by 24 to 36 hours. This solution was designed to minimize shock, vibration, and freight costs while meeting the urgent need for a logistics chain that had never been developed before.

Chill-Pak has shown significant growth since 2017 under the leadership of Stephen Foster, who became president that year. The company has also made a commitment to diversity and inclusion in its workforce. As of March 2020, people with disabilities made up 23% of Chill-Pak's workforce, with a goal to increase this to 40% by 2021.

Chill-Pak's customers include government agencies and several state health departments, which approached the company for suitable vaccine shippers during the Covid-19 pandemic. The company also partners with Preferred Family healthcare through its Preferred Employment Services program to connect jobseekers with disabilities to potential employment opportunities at Chill-Pak.
