Snaptrude is a multi-user, collaborative 3D building design platform that claims to offer a cost-effective alternative to Autodesk. The browser-based software offers a full-fledged solution for building information modeling (BIM). Snaptrude synchronizes the changes made by collaborators without requiring any manual merging while allowing instant feedback through its “Brainstorm” tool, with colored cursors acting as “digital index fingers” for each collaborator. The platform supports a variety of widely used file formats (e.g., DWG, RVT, IFC, and SKP). It also allows users to centrally manage models, templates, and libraries in shared workspaces. Snaptrude is said to be able to generate real-time data on the impact of changing construction size on cost, compliance, climate impact, and energy use.
Funding and financials
In January 2023, Snaptrude raised USD 6.6 million in a seed funding round co-led by Accel and Foundamental VC. The all-equity funding round was also joined by Possible Ventures, Clark Valberg (founder, InVision), RFC, CapitalX, and Thilo Konzok (co-founder, Home). The raised funds were allocated for the enhancements and growth of the company’s key product. Moreover, as of January 2023, the company operated with a global workforce of 35, including geometry engineers and mathematicians, and had plans to expand its engineering team in 2023 to strengthen its market presence.
