MISTR is a telemedicine platform that provides free and discreet access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and long-term HIV care across the US. The company offers virtual consultations with licensed physicians, at-home testing kits, online health questionnaires, and free medication delivery to patients in all 50 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico. MISTR's services include PrEP prescriptions, STI testing, and Doxycycline Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (DoxyPEP). The platform aims to eliminate barriers to PrEP access by handling insurance paperwork and leveraging patient assistance programs to ensure little to no out-of-pocket costs for users. MISTR also works with uninsured or underinsured individuals, enrolling them in patient assistance programs. 

As of August 2024, MISTR had served over 300,000 patients and continues to grow its product portfolio.

Key customers and partnerships

MISTR primarily serves the LGBTQ+ community, particularly gay and bisexual men, who account for a disproportionate number of new HIV infections. The company has partnered with health departments and community organizations to make its services completely free in 12 states. MISTR also collaborates with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and various grant programs to finance its free services. 

As of April 2024, MISTR had served over 300,000 patients and expanded its offerings to include Doxycycline Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (DoxyPEP), an antibiotic that reduces bacterial STIs. The company operates in all 50 US states, D.C., and Puerto Rico, with plans to open physical locations in major US cities and internationally in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

In July 2024, MISTR partnered with Walmart to offer free at-home HIV testing kits in select Walmart stores in Georgia. The pilot program planned to distribute 3,000 test kits at each of seven Walmart Supercenter locations in Georgia, focusing on Atlanta, Decatur, Ellenwood, Morrow, and Stockbridge. The initiative aimed to combat high HIV rates in Georgia, particularly new cases, by providing accessible testing options. MISTR also planned to offer free treatment and follow-up care through its telehealth platform for positive results.
