Fujitsu is a multinational information and communication technology company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Founded in 1935, it is the second-oldest IT company in operation, after IBM, and was responsible for the creation of Japan’s first computer, the FACOM 100 in 1954. As of 2021 , Fujitsu was the world's sixth-largest IT services provider by annual revenue as well as the largest in Japan. The company generated JPY 3,713.7 billion (~USD 27.5 billion) revenue in FY2022 (year ended March 31st).
Fujitsu has three main business segments: Technology Solutions, Ubiquitous Solutions, and Device Solutions. Of these, the Technology Solutions segment is by far the largest, accounting for ~85% of company revenue in FY2022. This segment provides solutions/services as well as system platforms and is also the company’s main source of revenue outside Japan. Additionally, the company’s Ubiquitous Solutions segment produces PCs, while its Device Solutions segment produces electronic components such as semiconductor packages and batteries.
Over 60% of Fujitsu’s revenue in FY2022 stemmed from its operations in Japan. Additionally, the company has a global presence and provides its services and products in more than 180 countries. Fujitsu was in the process of restructuring its business as of FY2022 to become a digital transformation (DX) company. As part of this, the company launched its Fujitsu Uvance brand in 2021 to leverage and focus on the group's technological abilities.
