Founded in 2016 by Arianna Huffington after she stepped down from her role at The Huffington Post, Thrive Global is a behavior change technology platform that supports mental and physical well-being. The company's business includes live workshops, a digital health program, and behavior modification programs. The company acquired Boundless Mind, which uses neuroscience-based artificial intelligence (AI) to influence behavior, in October 2019. As of July 2021, the company works with more than 100 organizations across 40 countries, including Walmart and Accenture.

Thrive Global expanded internationally in 2018, launching operations through partnerships in India and Greece. In January 2020, the company partnered with Discovery, a provider of direct banking and payment services, to launch Thriving Wallet. With video, editorial, and social content, Thriving Wallet helps consumers build healthy financial habits. The company also launched its in-house research division, Thrive Sciences. In October 2020, Thrive Global launched the Thrive Reset Zapp app in partnership with Zoom Video Communications. The Thrive Reset Zapp is an in-meeting app that helps users de-stress in real time during Zoom Meetings to help prevent virtual fatigue.

In October 2020, the company partnered with Salesforce as the cloud computing giant’s well-being partner, making its wellness content available on Salesforce's Health & Wellbeing Resource Center. In January 2021, Walmart Canada partnered with the company to offer a range of Thrive's behavior change resources to its 100,000-person workforce to help them cope better with pandemic-related anxiety.

In March 2021, Thrive Global APAC partnered with Yahoo Finance Australia who will become its exclusive media partner for 2021. The companies will collaborate on events and editorial initiatives to promote mental and financial health. Under the partnership, Thrive Global founder Arianna Huffington will be a guest columnist for Yahoo Finance Australia writing on purpose and financial wellbeing. Yahoo Finance Australia’s Editor-in-Chief Sarah O’Carroll will in turn serve as Thrive Global APAC’s editor-at-large, writing on wellbeing and wealth for the global C-suite audience.

In July 2021, Thrive Global raised USD 80 million in Series C funding, valuing the company at more than USD 700 million. Investor Mamoon Hamid believes the company will be able to go public in a few years, while founder Arianna Huffington has reportedly stated that the company is open to being acquired.

In August 2021, the company appointed Christopher O’Donnell as Chief Product Officer.
