Formstack offers a no-code workflow automation platform that enables users to automate documentation-related workflows across industries, such as education, healthcare, financial services, and software. Formstack caters to a range of business functions, including finance (payment processing, automated calculations, HR and administration (onboarding, and performance reviews), sales (CRM document generation), and IT compliance (document data encryption and user permissions automation).

The platform’s suite of products includes a drag-and-drop form building tool, a document generation tool, and a digital document signing application. Users can build forms and surveys, streamline document preparation, and digitally review and sign documents. Moreover, Formstack offers a dedicated Salesforce workflow solution that provides users with access to prefilled forms, automated document generation, and streamlined digital signature collection directly on the Salesforce platform.

The company made a series of acquisitions in the span of eight months across 2018–2019 to integrate new technology into its platform and expand its selection of document-related workflow automation products. Formstack acquired QuickTapSurvey, a mobile survey building app, in December 2018; Bedrock Data, a data collection solutions provider, in February 2019; WebMerge, an automated contracts and proposal generation platform, in April; and InsureSign, a digital signature solutions provider, in July.

Key customers and partnerships

As of July 2024, the company has automated 140 million workflows and has served 32,000 organizations, including Twitter, AdventHealth, Netflix, the National Hockey League (NHL), and the Cleveland Clinic. The company also reports that around 25% of its customers are international.

The platform also includes a number of templates and over 250 integrations (as of November 2023) with third-party software, including Salesforce, Hubspot, Paypa, Stripe, and Airtable (such as email, payments, CRM, content management systems, and document storage services).
