 Global chemical industry company, LyondellBasell (LYB), has decided to fully acquire APK AG, a German firm specialized in solvent-based recycling technology. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. With this move, LYB hopes to grow their Circular and Low Carbon Solutions business and offer a wider range of innovative recycling technologies.
 The technology at APK AG is centered around solvent-based low-density polyethylene (LDPE) recycling. It has the capability to segregate different polymers from complex waste, resulting in high-purity recycled materials which are ideal for new flexible packaging needs such as personal care products.
 By acquiring APK, LYB intends to fuse APK's technology with its own advanced and mechanical recycling operations. The aim is to enhance the recycling of flexible plastic waste materials that are tough to recycle and strive towards generating and marketing at least 2 million metric tons of recycled and renewable-based polymers annually by 2030.
