Based in Gardena, California, Cover manufactures accessory dwelling units (ADUs). The company uses pre-engineered building software to precisely identify the components that go into the structure, allowing the company to provide a fixed price in advance. The company also uses a patent-pending building system that allows the assembling of pre-engineered parts to develop different types of unique floor plans. Cover homes are priced between USD 300 and USD 400 per square foot and can be completed within 12 weeks following necessary approvals. On average, a typical ADU will cost around USD 260,000.

Cover houses are equipped with LED fixtures, which the company reports will reduce energy costs by 80%. The company also states that its houses generate 80% less construction waste while proper insulation and the climate control system could reduce annual energy cost by around 40%.

In October 2021, Cover raised USD 60 million in Series B funding, which was expected to be used partially to move from its current 25,000 sq ft facility to a 100,000 sq ft facility and to expand into other product segments such as multi-family housing units. The company also planned to offer existing customers the ability to enlarge their houses bought through the Cover app, allowing customers to click on the room that needs to be added, pay, and receive the product in 2–3 days. By October 2021, the company had built 20+ ADUs through its operations in Los Angeles, with plans to expand throughout the state.
