Yoom (formerly known as Tetavi) is an Israel-based company that uses AI, proprietary neural networks, and volumetric capture to create immersive and photorealistic digital content and experiences.
Yoom Studio specializes in performance capture software, which eliminates the need for green screens or markers via its proprietary deep learning networks. Key features include the capability of capturing fast motion with up to 1-millisecond exposure time, compatibility with major game engines and platforms, optimized for 3D and support for WebGL and web-based streaming activations, with integrations for Android and iOS. Yoom Studio also offers post-production flexibility, including material segmentation and relighting, as well as integration with native 3D animation pipelines.
Yooman Technology offers an automated AI cloud-software technology designed for creating high-fidelity, in-motion 3D characters at scale. This tech is applied across various sectors such as gaming, production, post-production, and VFX studios in sports, music, and entertainment. Yooman Technology encompasses high-fidelity modeling, texturing, and motion capture from a single performance capture. It automates processes like retopology, rigging, and skinning. The models are processed, optimized, and can be stored locally or on the cloud. The output is a fully rigged and skinned, lightweight, game-ready .fbx file, compatible with any real-time engine or 3D software. The company claims that the tech significantly reduces animation processing time and reduces workload by 60%–70%, with a single capture capable of generating multiple non-playable characters (NPCs). Further, Yoom claims to have the world’s most extensive volumetric video data set collected across the NA, APAC, and EMEA regions.
As of January 2024, the company was in the process of launching YOOM “Legion,” a GenAI cloud-based service that streamlines changes to textures, geometry, and motion of 3D characters by using image and textual cues. The platform is able to automatically generate a series of high-fidelity 3D assets.
Funding and financials
The company’s most recent funding round was in October 2022 when it raised USD 15 million from a group of notable investors, including Jimmy Iovine (co-founder, Interscope Records and Beats Electronics), Maverick Carter (CEO, The SpringHill Company), and Paul Wachter (Founder and CEO, Main Street Advisors). The funds were allocated for hiring and R&D.
In August 2023, YOOM joined Microsoft’s Pegasus Program, a two-year incubator program. This provided YOOM with USD 350,000 in Azure, GitHub, and Linkedin credits to bolster its Yooman Engine.
