January AI is a subscription-based preventive health startup that provides diabetes management services via a mobile app. It combines continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), a heart rate monitor, and its proprietary AI technology to predict glucose responses from food consumption, offering lower glycemic load alternatives and recommending the amount of activity required to reduce their glucose levels. It claims to be the first metabolic health company that used machine learning to create nutritional labels and glycemic index, allowing it to predict a user’s response to more than 32 million food items.

The company offers a free app to allow users to track their food impact and provide alternative recommendations. It also provides a January Pro app that starts from USD 288 that provides users with a CGM for 14 days to train the AI. Users also have the option of pairing an activity tracker such as Apple Watch, Oura Ring, or Fitbit to incorporate health data like sleep patterns, heart rate, and activity levels into its AI recommendations. Members receive daily tasks, customized metabolic scores, and midpoint reports designed to improve lifestyle choices.

In addition to its D2C service, January partners with pharmaceutical companies to study the impact of metabolic disease drugs combined with diet, heart rate, and glucose levels during clinical trials. The company’s algorithm is also available to enterprises via an application program interface. In October 2023 January AI collaborated with major food companies like Nestlé to apply its "digital twin" technology to optimizing new food products for better metabolic responses in different populations. Further in July 2024, partnered with Mars, a food and pet care company, to leverage January AI's AI tools to generate new insights and advance Mars' research and development efforts.
