EdgeConneX provides a range of data centers, from hyperlocal (including micro data centers and Points of Presence, PoPs) to hyper-scale centers, as well as the complementing OS to manage the facilities. This ranges from an EdgePoP in the Prudential Tower in Boston, to a 100 MW data center campus in Amsterdam.

The company mainly looks toward organic growth as a means of expanding its data centers and does not build data centers speculatively. 

EdgeConneX's growth is marked by a strategic push toward hyperlocal to hyper-scale data center solutions globally, leveraging partnerships, acquisitions, and new developments to meet digital infrastructure demand. Key to its strategy is sustainability-linked financing, emphasizing environmental responsibility while aiming for carbon neutrality and 100% renewable energy by 2030. In August 2021 Edgeconnex acquired Global Data Center (GDC), an Israel-based data center operator headquartered in Herzliya, the hub of Israel’s hi-tech district, for USD 200 million. 

EdgeConneX was acquired by PE firm, EQT Infrastructure (EQT) in November 2020 (announced in August 2020) to leverage the financial resources and industry experience of EQT, to expand its datacenter presence in new geographies.

Key customers and partnerships

EdgeConneX has a strong portfolio of partnerships with many large digital infrastructure companies, such as NVIDIA, Oracle, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services.

EdgeConneX's partnerships with Cloudflare and Zenlayer enhance global data center connectivity and access to cloud services. Additionally, its partnership with Ori Industries plans to extend Ori’s federated global cloud footprint in Europe.

The joint venture with Adani Enterprises, AdaniConneX, aims to revolutionize India's digital infrastructure by building a network of hyper-scale and hyperlocal data centers across major Indian markets, powered by up to 100% renewable energy. This collaboration combines EdgeConneX's global data center expertise with Adani's infrastructure prowess to support India's digital growth.

Funding and financials

In September 2023 EdgeConneX secured USD 403.8 million in sustainability-linked debt funding to expand its Jakarta-based data center footprint and bring its Indonesian hyper-scale campus to over 120MW. The funding was also earmarked to increase its sustainability capabilities, including power efficiency and renewable energy sources, and enhance its safety measures.
