Armorblox is a cybersecurity company that offers a platform to secure enterprise communications over email and other cloud office applications using natural language understanding (NLU) technology. Its core products employ deep learning, machine learning models, and natural language techniques to analyze signals like user identity, behavior, communication content, and context. This allows Armorblox to protect against targeted attacks such as business email compromise (BEC), email account compromise (EAC), phishing, and data exfiltration attempts.
Armorblox emerged from stealth mode in February 2019 after raising USD 16.5 million in Series A funding from investors like General Catalyst and Point72 Ventures. Over 58,000 organizations globally were using Armorblox solutions as of 2022 to prevent sensitive data leaks, financial fraud, and account takeovers facilitated through email.
In May 2023, networking giant Cisco Systems announced its intent to acquire Armorblox to leverage its pioneering approach of using large language models and NLU for cybersecurity use cases beyond just email protection. The acquisition was completed in July 2023, with the Armorblox team joining Cisco's Security Business Group to integrate generative AI capabilities across Cisco's security portfolio for enhanced threat detection, prevention and policy enforcement.
