Mighty Buildings develops prefabricated single-family houses and accessory dwelling units (ADUs). The company manufactures panels that are made of non-silicate, light-stone material and steel components using 3D-printing technology, which are then transported for on-site installation. This patented system, known as the “Mighty Kit System” (MKS), can replace up to eight layers of traditional material, reducing cost. The company reports that the 3D-printing technology eliminates 95% of construction waste and the structures are developed twice as fast using around 95% fewer labor hours, with a 350 sq ft home reported to be developed within 24 hours.
Its buildings can be developed to achieve net-zero energy status and, as of July 2021, were available within the 864–1,440 sq ft range, with prices starting at USD 221,750. The ADUs, known as “Mighty Mods,” are fully manufactured in the factory and start at USD 187,250 per unit. The company has recorded USD 7 million in contract revenue in Q2 2021. As of September 2021, the company operated within California, with plans to expand nationwide. In March 2023, it opened a new factory in Mexico to expand operations in the Southern California region, beginning with Desert Hot Springs. In October 2022, the company announced that it has delivered a 3D-printed net-zero home as a part of a community of 40+ housing units expected to be developed in Southern California. In October 2021, Mighty Buildings partnered with materials technology company Fortera to use its cement, which reduces CO2 emissions by more than 60%, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2028.
Funding and financials
In September 2023 , Mighty Buildings raised USD 52 million in a Series C funding round co-led by Waed Ventures and Bold Capital to expand its presence in North America and the Middle East, with a specific emphasis on Saudi Arabia. The funds were also expected to support the launch of the company's forthcoming modular homebuilding kit.
