Rantizo is a precision agriculture company based in Iowa City that provides drone application services to the agricultural industry. The company offers a turnkey service platform that connects demand and supply for agricultural spray drone services. Rantizo's network of operators uses drones to deliver timely, local, and precise application of crop protection products, fertilizers, and cover crops across various crops, including corn, soybeans, rice, hops, and potatoes. As of 2023, Rantizo operators were active in 30 states, working with more than 20% of the top 50 agricultural retailers in the US. The drones bought from manufacturers, such as DJI, are equipped with a 14-foot spray boom and can cover approximately 100 acres per day. In 2023, Rantizo reported spraying almost 200,000 acres.
Rantizo's platform includes software called AcreConnect, launched in March 2024, which helps spray drone operators create work orders, generate product usage reports, and produce “As Applied” and “As Covered” maps. This software is designed to streamline business operations and improve efficiency for drone operators. In July 2024, Rantizo received FAA approval for advanced drone operations, allowing its service hub operators to swarm up to three drones over 55 pounds, operate without a visual observer, and conduct night operations. This approval was expected to significantly boost operator productivity and flexibility.
Key customers and partnerships
Rantizo's primary customers are agricultural retailers. A notable customer is Simplot, for which Rantizo more than tripled the acres treated in 2023. In July 2022, the company partnered with EFC Systems to integrate EFC’s FieldAlytics software into the workflows for drone application, enhancing compliance capabilities and data management for Rantizo's application partners.
