Threedium

Threedium is a provider of low code 3D development tools, APIs, web engines, and turnkey services including an asset management and deployment platform, enabling the creation of AR assets for both web and mobile platforms.

Threedium’s 3D and AR engine, Unlimited 3D, claims to be able to create the highest fidelity 3D assets across web and mobile, usable for AR visualizations. This enables B2C brands, fashion retailers, gaming, automotive CPG, and more, to display their goods, allowing customers to interact with the product such as zooming in or out, seeing it from different angles, trying it on, changing the color, size, or material before purchasing it via a browser and not having to experience the friction of downloading a specific app.

The platforms’ scalability and cross-channel capabilities allow for the use of 3D models without needing reformatting for online customer-facing channels. Furthermore, Threedium claims to be the only 3D company to have developed a proprietary file format .TUF to block AI and web theft of 3D files, rather than open-source platforms that put IPs at risk. The company also offers a marketplace for enterprises to purchase ready-made 3D assets and submit custom asset requests.

Key customers and partnerships

Threedium has a portfolio of popular brands as customers such as Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Bulgari, LOEWE, Girard Perregaux, Tommy Hilfiger, and Diageo, who use it to create detailed AR versions of their products.

As of October 2023, Threedium was in the process of partnering with Amazon’s AWS, Salesforce, NVIDIA, and Teads, to use its APIs and infrastructure services to offer customers high-fidelity 3D and real-time customization AR experiences.

Established partnerships include the following:

1) SharpEnd, an IoT agency to allow brands to create 3D/AR digital twins of products as NFTs (September 2022)

2) RarerThings, an independent web3 advisory service, to extend its web3 expertise to Threedium’s clients while providing RareThings’ clients access to Threedium’s products (May 2022)

3) Craft, a creative production agency to launch a virtual shopping mall in Decentraland's Metaverse Fashion Week, the creation of a metaverse office, and an ARclothing line for avatar customization (March 2022)

4) Renovi, to provide metaverse fashion show solution for brands participating in the first-ever Metaverse Fashion Week hosted by Decentraland (February 2022).

5) OVR, an AR platform powered by the Ethereum Blockchain, to develop a decentralized spatial web for the metaverse (December 2021)

Funding and financials

In October 2023 , Threedium raised USD 11 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Interpublic Group and Olma Partners. The funds were earmarked to advance spatial computing and 3D content production on the web, as well as deepen R&D into AI to enhance the efficiency of its 3D models.
