Randstad is a global provider of HR consulting services offering temporary and permanent staffing placements since 2008. Randstad complements its in-house services using investments in disruptor companies through the ‘Randstad Innovation Fund’, a USD 60 million venture fund. The fund targets investments in startups in the HR space with investments ranging between USD 1 million and USD 6 million at the seed and Series A/B stage. The fund's first investment was Gigwalk (1.5 million users) in 2014, broadening their product offering and partially automating staffing solutions to clients. Randstad is listed on Euronext Amsterdam (Amsterdam Stock Exchange).

Randstad announced plans to acquire Side, a French digital staffing platform, in April 2022 to strengthen Randstad’s position in the digital staffing market and offer Randstad’s existing and potential clients an expanded portfolio of services. Founded in 2016, Side offers digital temporary staffing solutions to over 2,000 clients primarily operating in the logistics, trade, and service industries. The platform has over 300,000 active candidates and facilitates ~5,000 contracts per month. Side’s customer base includes the likes of BlaBlaCar, Airbnb, and Nike. The company acquired European freelancing platform Twago in 2016. At the time, Twago was considered to be the region's largest freelance marketplace, accelerating Randstad’s entry into freelancer recruitment.

In May 2021, reports surfaced that the UK government is set to award the company a contract to operate its National Tutoring Programme for the 2021-2022 academic year. The program is a government initiative backed by GBP 350 million (USD 495 million) in funding to help UK students catch up on study hours lost during the pandemic.

In FY2021, Randstad’s revenue increased by 19% year-over-year (YoY) to EUR 24.6 billion (approx. USD 29 billion), recovering steadily after the 12% YoY drop in revenue in FY2020, and 5% higher than pre-pandemic revenue in FY2019. Underlying EBITDA improved by 58% YoY to EUR 1.1 billion (approx. USD 1.3 billion), and net income improved by 153% YoY to EUR 768 million (approx. USD 910 million) in FY2021, after the drop in underlying EBITDA by 37% YoY and net income by 50% in FY2020.
