Blackpoint Cyber offers a Managed detection and response (MDR) service and was founded by former cybersecurity experts from the US Department of Defence. The company offers threat detection and monitoring across an organization’s entire network infrastructure. The company uses its patented security and incident response tool the “Secure Network Analysis Platform” (SNAP-Defense) to provide insider and outsider threat monitoring, anti-malware, traffic analysis, and endpoint security. SNAP-Defense allows managed service providers (MSPs) and small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to remotely manage multiple networks and provides real-time alerts to address the threats. It can be integrated with security solutions such as Avira, Cisco, and Sophos and provides network mapping, early threat detection, and alert correlation.

Key customers and partnerships

In July 2019, Blackpoint Cyber partnered with Webroot, to form the Webroot Business Endpoint Protection and SNAP-Defense for a comprehensive IT security solution for sophisticated cyberattacks. In June 2020, Blackpoint Cyber launched 365 Defense, a 24/7 MDR platform for Microsoft 365 applications.

Funding and financials

In June 2023, Blackpoint raised USD 190 million in a Series C funding round led by Bain Capital Tech Opportunities. The firm reportedly planned to channel the funds into developing its technology, and to expand its team.
