EVR Foods brand Lavva is a plant-based milk and yogurt producer based in the US. Lava uses pili nuts, coconut water and cream, plantains, cassava, vanilla extract, lime juice, fruit and live vegan cultures to produce plant-based yogurt. According to the company, the pili nuts sourced from the Philippines and Indonesia give the plant-based yogurt a similar texture and creaminess to full-fat yogurt.
Lavva’s product range includes two yogurt offers, two yogurt ranges, and a milk. The Lavva range includes six different flavors of plant-based yogurt such as original, mango, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, pineapple, and vanilla. The Molten Lavva range includes five different flavors: vanilla chai, key lime, chocolate, espresso, and chocolate raspberry. Lavva yogurts retail for USD 2.49 per cup. In September 2020, Lavva expanded into the milk alternative industry with the debut of unsweetened plant milk, chocolate plant milk, and unsweetened plant creamer which is exclusively available at Whole Foods Markets nationwide.
In January 2021, Lavva’s 5.3 ounce blueberry plant-based yogurt was found to be contaminated and the company recalled the products which had been distributed nationwide. The products were produced at the company’s manufacturing facility in Norwich, NY.
In February 2021, Health and Plant Protein Group (HPP) and S2G Ventures reached an agreement to acquire a 60.5% stake in EVR Foods upon completion of key milestones. In August 2022 , the Lavva brand was acquired by Next in Natural.
Key customers and partnerships
In June 2019, Lavva’s plant-based yogurts were available in 4,000 stores across the US including Whole Foods Market, Kroger Banners, Giant, Stop & Shop, Sprouts, The Fresh Market, Wegmans, and Albertsons Safeway. As of March 2024, the company website only mentioned Whole Foods Market and online distributor Instacart .
