Based in Austria, Alpine Quantum Technologies (AQT) is a spin-off from the University of Innsbruck and the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The company is developing a general-purpose quantum computer using trapped ion technology. The company's technology is based on over six decades of academic research.
AQT has a programmable ion-trap quantum computer and is planning to launch one with more than 100 qubits. It offers cloud-access to its quantum computer for a range of applications.
Key customers and partnerships
In February 2024, the company partnered with Quanscient to enhance multiphysics simulations with quantum computing. In January 2024, AQT collaborated with digital services provider T-Systems to offer cloud-based quantum computing access to its customers in Europe.
AQT's quantum computer supports software tools of leading players such as IBM, Cambridge Quantum Computing, and Xanadu. It has also established a strategic partnership with HQS, a Germany-based quantum software player specializing in quantum simulations.
