TWAICE

TWAICE is a German company providing predictive analytics software to optimize the development and operation of lithium-ion batteries. The company’s solution is based on a digital twin approach (i.e., a simulation of the actual battery that runs on TWAICE's cloud platform). The company continually updates the parameters of the “twin” so that it reflects the behavior of the actual battery, down to its thermal characteristics, electrical behavior, and degradation.

TWAICE’s software allows EV fleets to readily monitor the state of the battery packs of each of the vehicles. The software could also be used to forecast future performance of a battery. Other use cases include warranty tracking, fault diagnosis, resale assessment, and providing a test environment for battery designing and engineering.

Key customers and partnerships

TWAICE’s customers included automakers Audi, Daimler, and Hero Motors (India) as well as energy companies such as Verbund (Austria). TWAICE also partnered with Munich Re, TUV Rheinland (a German testing and certification institute working on EV resales), and ViriCiti (a Dutch EV fleet management company) to offer battery-related services.
