Udelv specializes in autonomous delivery vehicles (ADVs) for last- and middle-mile delivery. Its latest ADV, called “Transporter,” comes equipped with Intel subsidiary Mobileye’s self-driving technology with Level 4 autonomy (i.e., fully autonomous vehicles limited to specific locations and/or conditions), which features 12 cameras, nine LiDAR sensors, six radar sensors, and one traffic light camera for autonomous navigation. The vehicle is capable of carrying a payload of 2,000–5,000 lbs and can travel at a speed of 70 mph, covering ranges between 160 and 300 miles on a single charge. The vehicle is also equipped with a detachable compartment called “uPod,” which comes with a proprietary software-controlled robotic mechanism and is capable of storing up to 270 cu ft of goods and up to 80 separate compartments. The vehicles have a safety driver on board and can also be teleoperated as needed.
As of February 2024, the vehicles were open for pre-orders. Limited pilot units were made available in Q4 2023, with plans to release the first production units by the end of 2024. The company plans to build and deploy around 50,000 units over 2023–2028. As of February 2024, the company piloted its self-driving vehicles in geographies including San Francisco Bay Area (California), Phoenix (Arizona), and Houston (Texas).
