Udelv, a Silicon Valley-based autonomous delivery vehicle startup, has received its first pre-order from Donlen, an Illinois-based fleet leasing and management company, for 1,000 units of its new autonomous delivery vehicle (ADV) “Transporter”. This marks the largest pre-order to date for an ADV.
The vehicle was launched earlier this month, integrating Intel’s Mobileye self-driving technology with Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Level 4 autonomy (i.e., fully autonomous vehicles limited to specific locations and/or conditions) into the Transporter unit.
Udelv, founded in 2016, specializes in autonomous last-mile delivery vehicles. The company stated that it plans to build and deploy around 35,000 Transporters between 2023 and 2028, but has not yet disclosed any production details.
