Pietra, backed by celebrities such as Will Smith and Robert Downey Jr., offers creators a way to launch their own brands with products, such as makeup, candles, fragrances, and apparel, and assists with existing online creator businesses. The platform’s supplier network, warehousing, fulfillment, and e-commerce tools enable creators to source and develop products, set up online stores, fulfill new orders, and market their brands. Creators can communicate with suppliers and product designers on the platform and sell their products directly to consumers in the Pietra Marketplace. Pietra states that creators using its platform are able to develop products and sell online in under 90 days.

The platform also assists creators with negotiations on minimum order volume and cross-border logistics. The supplier charges the creator a fee of up to USD 4 for each product sample developed, while Pietra charges the creator USD 99 for assembling, quality assurance, and warehousing up to 500 units (USD 0.25 for each additional unit), a fulfillment fee of USD 1 for each purchase, and a sales and distribution fee of 5% + USD 1 on each purchase of the product through the Pietra Marketplace or a connected sales channel.

The company stated its revenue grew by 210% between January-April 2021. Pietra reported that since its launch in early 2021, it has had more than 20,000 creators use its platform to launch their own brands as of August 2021, of which over 70% were women and first-time entrepreneurs.

In May 2023 , the company raised USD 16 million in an extended Series A funding round led by M13.  Previously in June 2021 , Pietra raised USD 15 million in Series A funding.

Pietra announced a partnership with global talent, entertainment, and sports company United Talent Agency (UTA) to offer a USD 500,000 creator fund in August 2021. The deal combines Pietra’s infrastructure and technology with UTA’s dedicated digital media group services which help clients (from A-list talent to Fortune 500 companies) launch and develop businesses. The creator fund will support select creators to launch their own product lines and brands using Pietra’s suite of tools. Products may be in fast-growing consumer categories, such as fashion, cosmetics, and candles and fragrances.
