Sorare is a blockchain-based fantasy football platform that allows users to collect, trade, and play with officially licensed digital football player cards represented as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Ethereum blockchain. These unique digital collectibles are scarce, with rarity tiers like limited, rare, super rare, and unique editions per season. Users can create virtual teams with these NFT player cards and compete in fantasy football tournaments, earning points based on the real-life performances of the players.

Sorare has secured partnerships with major football leagues and clubs, including the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, MLS, and top teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool. The platform operates on a free-to-play model, with users able to participate in casual tournaments using free common cards initially. However, to access higher-tier competitions and rarer player cards, users need to purchase NFTs using Ethereum (ETH) on Sorare's marketplace.

In March 2021, a Cristiano Ronaldo NFT card was sold for a record USD 289,920 on Sorare. As of March 2022, the platform had over 2 million registered users and had facilitated trades worth over USD 350 million since its inception in 2018.
