Innocent Meat is a German cell-cultured technology startup that has developed a novel, scalable cultured meat production system. Known as “Farm In A Box,” this automated plug-and-produce system comes with the required stem cells, scaffolds, and cell media needed for cultivated meat production and can be operated without any specific knowledge in the field of cultured meats. According to the company, this system only requires 6 sq m of space to produce roughly one metric ton of cultured minced meat per week.
Innocent Meat also provides the FABA.BIO molecular farming platform which uses plants as bioreactors for producing recombinant protein expression.
Key customers and partnerships
In August 2024, the company partnered with Rostock University Medical Centre on a research project funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. This project aimed to explore the use of stem cells for lab-grown meat production and develop standardized procedures for reprogramming cells for optimal proliferation.
