Pleese Foods produces plant-based cheese for pizzas using a proprietary blend of bean and potato proteins. The New York company claims its product is free from allergens such as soy, seeds, wheat, and nuts. The product is available at pizzerias across the US.
Pleese Foods’ products are available in 80+ retail outlets and foodservice establishments across the US.
Key customers and partnerships
In August 2022 the company partnered with Webstaurant Store for its first retail launch and planned to launch at supermarkets by 2023.
In April 2024, the company partnered with Performance Food Group (PFG), a leading US food distributor, to expand its vegan cheese availability nationwide.
Funding and financials
In October 2019, the company raised USD 200,000 in funds backed by Big Idea Ventures. In December 2020, the company was among 15 finalists (out of more than 340 participants) in the FoodBytes pitching competition held by Raboban. Pleese Foods did not reach the final three but remains part of the FoodBytes network and maintains an ongoing relationship with Rabobank.
