Modern Animal

Modern Animal is an on-demand veterinary telehealth platform offering unlimited exams, in-app prescription requests, and delivery and virtual care for dog and cat owners. The company has developed its own technological platform and was founded by Steven Eidelman, founder of dog tracking startup Whistle. Modern Animal’s veterinary team is led by Dr. Christie Long, former director of veterinary medicine at PetCo (provider of offline grooming, training, and vet services for pets). Modern Animal offers membership plans with two options: the All Access plan for USD 199 per year and the Pay As You Go plan for USD 80 per exam.

Modern Animal’s first physical clinic was opened in April 2020 in Los Angeles, offering vaccines, medical checkups, and advanced procedures that do not require overnight care. The company envisions operating 50 locations throughout the US in five years, allowing it to expand on-site veterinary services. In August 2023, the company planned to expand its network of veterinary clinics to Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Houston, Denver, Phoenix, and Atlanta in the second half of 2024.

In March 2024, Modern Animal partnered with DOG PPL, LA's first canine social club, to enhance pet wellness and community engagement through shared benefits, exclusive events, and collaborative educational content.
