Zocdoc, founded in 2007, offers a digital marketplace facilitating patient-initiated consultation appointments with doctors. Each month, millions of patients use Zocdoc freely to navigate through a database of doctors across 100 different specialties and select one doctor to suit their medical needs. The company generates revenue through annual subscription fees charged from doctors in return for using its platform. The company also generates revenue through ‘Sponsored search” from doctors, which ranks doctors among the patient searches.
In May 2020, Zocdoc ventured into telehealth space by introducing the "Zocdoc Video Service”, its new and free telehealth video service, powered by Twilio (a cloud-based communications company), that can be used by any doctor to serve his or her virtual appointments with patients. This greatly complements the company’s recent surge in video visit appointments in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic–recently, ZocDoc reported 350,000 Video Visit appointments through its platform in one week.
Zocdoc has attracted USD 375.9 million in total funding to-date with its last funding round being USD 150 million raised in February 2021.
