MAJORITY provides digital banking services via a mobile app catering to the immigrant community. It allows customers to create accounts using government IDs from any country outside the US, along with a proof of a US address without requiring Social Security numbers. The bank operates under a subscription-based business model, charging USD 5.99 per month.
The bank offers a checking account with a debit card and also provides access to a personalized advisor, who can communicate with customers in their own language. MAJORITY also offers fee-free overdrafts and international money transfers. In addition, it provides services such as mobile credit and at-cost international phone calls.
Key customers and partnerships
The bank does not possess its own banking license and offers its products in partnership with Sutton Bank or Axiom Bank, with its debit card issued pursuant to a license from Visa.
Funding and financials
In September 2022, MAJORITY raised USD 37.5 million in a Series B funding round, comprising USD 30 million of equity financing led by Valar Ventures and USD 7.5 million in debt financing from an undisclosed US commercial bank. Furthermore, in June 2023, the company secured an additional USD 9.75 million in an extension to its Series B funding round led by Valar Ventures. It had planned to use the fresh capital to support its growth into Laredo, Texas and to expand along the US-Mexico border. In May 2024, the company raised a further USD 20 million in Series B extension, comprising USD 12.5 million of equity and USD 7.5 million in debt. It had earmarked the funds to enhance and broaden its range of products, with a primary focus on helping its customers build and boost their credit ratings and gain access to credit offerings.
The company reported in May 2024 that it generated USD 40 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR).
