Founded in 2016 as a joint venture between Romax Technology and Castrol, the company offers integrated technologies and services to optimize wind turbine performance and reduce operational costs. ONYX InSight's flagship product is fleetMONITOR, a cloud-based condition monitoring software platform that has been in use for over 10 years. As of March 2024, fleetMONITOR actively monitors more than 20,000 wind turbines globally, enabling asset owners to anticipate major component failures up to 24 months in advance. The software is hardware-agnostic and can integrate data from over 15 different hardware systems, providing a comprehensive view of turbine health across entire fleets.

ONYX InSight's solutions combine advanced sensing technologies, enterprise software, and engineering expertise to help wind farm operators maximize energy production and minimize downtime. The company's predictive analytics capabilities leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to analyze multiple data streams, including vibration, SCADA, oil particles, and temperature data. ONYX InSight serves a global client base that includes major wind energy asset owners, operators, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Notable customers include Pattern Energy, ERG, and bp. In September 2022, GE Renewable Energy selected ONYX InSight as the sole provider of condition monitoring solutions for its onshore wind turbines, with plans to install ONYX's drive train monitoring solutions across over 7,000 turbines over several years.

The company has also established strategic partnerships to enhance its offerings. In March 2023, ONYX InSight partnered with Nearthlab, a South Korean autonomous drone solution company, to deliver a comprehensive turbine predictive maintenance solution for wind farm operators in North America. This partnership integrates Nearthlab's mobile drone technology with ONYX InSight's predictive maintenance services, enabling more efficient and cost-effective visual inspections of turbine blades.
