Canva: The visual communication platform offering design, collaboration, and productivity tools for businesses and individuals
Canva is a graphic design platform that offers a web-based suite of tools and features for creating professional-looking designs for various purposes, including social media graphics, presentations, and marketing materials. Founded in 2013 by Melanie Perkins, Cliff Obrecht, and Cameron Adams, Canva provides an intuitive and user-friendly interface with drag-and-drop functionality and an extensive library of templates, graphics, and fonts, allowing users to design without extensive technical expertise.
In August 2024, Canva introduced a new brand system to help organizations improve visual communication as businesses scale their operations globally. In March 2023, the company launched AI-powered tools such as Magic Write, Magic Edit, and Beat Sync.
Canva acquired several companies, including Zeetings (a presentation startup), Pexels and Pixabay (stock photography websites), Kaleido.ai (an Australian startup), and Smartmockups (a Czech-based company), in September 2022.
As of June 2024, the platform operated in more than 190 countries and had a customer base of over 130 million monthly users, including companies like Zoom, Sony Music, Salesforce, and Upworthy.
