Drone Delivery Canada (DDC), an Ontario-based developer of drones and logistics systems, has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with Drones Express, a drone delivery services provider, for a multi-route drone delivery project in Quebec.
Initially, both companies will work together with the Canadian regulatory authorities to identify business opportunities for parcel and mail transport by drone. Upon completion, the companies aim to deploy a DDC’s Condor drone model (with a payload capacity of 400 lbs and 124 miles flying radius on a tank of gas) to make mail and parcel deliveries to and between the villages of the Lower North Shore, Quebec. The project is expected to be launched in the summer of 2021.
Drones Express would use DDC’s DroneSpot depots (depot-to-depot flights on predetermined routes with the required infrastructure) and DDC’s software system in a SaaS model.
The project is expected to span a period of 10 years, generating total revenue of more than USD 3.6 million for DDC. Operations are conducted in accordance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations and Transport Canada flight authorizations.
