DoorDash, the largest food delivery service in the US, has announced standardized pricing for restaurants that utilize the delivery platform.
The online delivery platform now offers three plans to restaurants, Basic, Plus, and Premier. The Basic plan entails restaurants paying a 15% commission on deliveries, with a higher delivery cost assigned to the customer, and is a better fit for smaller delivery areas. The Plus plan requires customers to pay a commission of 25% and offers restaurants an opportunity to be a part of DoorDash’s DashPass subscription program, which garners higher visibility within the app. Premier requires restaurants to pay 30% in exchange for the lowest customer fees, a larger delivery area, and a minimum order growth of 20 orders per month.
The company stated that restaurants and chains with less than 75 locations are eligible for the newly announced pricing plans but did not state how many of its partnered restaurants qualified to receive the service. Furthermore, the company has revised its commission fee for pickup orders to 6% from 15%.
Founded in 2013, DoorDash is the largest online food delivery service in the US. As of November 2020, the company had partnered with more than 390,000 restaurants from over 4,000 cities listed on its website and mobile application, servicing more than 18 million customers via 1 million Dashers (delivery workers).
