Flytrex receives FAA approval for operations over people; plans to scale operations in North Carolina

Product updates

  • Flytrex, an Israel-based drone delivery company, announced the expansion of its operations in Fayetteville, North Carolina, after receiving the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s approval to operate over people. The flights will be conducted within the visual line of sight (VLOS), maintaining safety standards.

  • Flytrex will partner with Causey Aviation Unmanned, a drone-based delivery services provider, and other local retailers and restaurants, including Walmart to provide drone-based deliveries.

  • Previously, the company conducted drone-based deliveries in the area, but deliveries were made only to designated pickup locations. However, with the FAA’s approval, the company would be able to make deliveries straight to customers’ homes from partnering restaurants and stores.

  • Flytrex conducts drone deliveries in Iceland and the US. The company received initial FAA approval to conduct drone deliveries in North Carolina in August 2019, and it partnered with Walmart to deliver groceries in Fayetteville in September 2020.
